BODY MASS INDEX

If your BMI is above 25,then you are overweight or obese and at risk of chronic diseases like Diabetes Mellitus,Hypertension and Heart Diseases including stroke.

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a simple index of weight-for-height that is commonly used to classify underweight, overweight and obesity in adults. It is defined as the weight in kilograms divided by the square of the height in metres (kg/m2).
HOW TO KNOW YOUR BMI :
WEIGHT IN KG ÷(HEIGHT IN METERS)^2

BMIClassification
< 18.5 – underweight
18.5–24.9 – normal weight
25.0–29.9 – overweight
30.0–34.9class I obesity
35.0–39.9class II obesity
= 40.0 class III obesity

For example a person weighing 90 Kg with a height of 1.68meters :

BMI = 90 ÷ (1,68 × 1.68)
90 ÷ 2.824 = 31.
This falls under the category of Class 1 Obesity.
To move from overweight or obese state,All you need to do is get your weight reduced since your height can’t be altered ,once you are an adult.
For example, for a person with a height of 1.68 M to have a Normal BMI of at most 24.9 ,the weight would have to be:
24 .9× (1.68 × 1.68)
24.9 × 2.824 = 70.31Kg.
So for a person with a height of 1.68 Meters to have a healthy BMI,he / she should not weigh more than about 70Kg.
